Young People's responses to consultations on Hate Crime 2017 - 2022
At each stage of the consolidation of Hate Crime legislation we have worked to ensure young people’s voices were part of this.
This started with the the review led by Lord Bracadale of all legislation and the report we produced in 2017 with young people’s views on the questions that were asked.
Lord Bracadale’s review and report was followed by a national consultation by Scottish Government. Once again we consulted with young people directly to ensure their voices were heard.
Finally, the Hate Crime and Public Order (2022) Act received assent and will be commenced in 2023. This was followed by the development of the Hate Crime Strategy and once again we engaged young people in consultation on what the priorites for the strategy should be.
