Holocaust Memorial Day Trust

Holocaust Memorial Day Trust (HMDT) is the charity established and funded by the UK Government to promote and support Holocaust Memorial Day (HMD) across the UK.

Our purpose is to promote and support HMD, the international day on the 27 January that marks the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, the largest Nazi death camp, as the UK’s national day to commemorate the 6 million Jews murdered during the Holocaust, alongside the millions of people murdered under Nazi persecution of other groups, and in more recent genocides in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur. We encourage people to learn lessons from the past and take steps to challenge hatred and persecution. Our vision is: Learning from genocide – for a better future.

We have a wide range of free to download resources available on our website including films, life stories, art and creative projects, artefacts, historical information and so much more for HMD activity organisers and others to use. Our resources can be used in schools, colleges and universities, workplaces, museums, libraries and so many other settings. In addition, our online map allows HMD activity organisers to promote their activities and to let us know about the amazing work they are doing.

You can follow us on our social media channels below or contact us by emailing enquiries@hmd.org.uk or calling us on 020 7785 7029.
